Quotes on Financial Brutality

I spend a lot of time reading quotes.  They give me inspiration and sometimes offers a new perspective. Today, while I was shopping I said to the cashier, "You can't beat this sale" and he responded, "You can't beat it with a stick." And oddly enough, I was buying a dowel rod. At that moment, I instantly thought of my mother because she would always say that phrase as well as a few others. It got me thinking about my own sayings.  What is uniquely mine? If not my own unique saying, what am I known for saying?  Hmmm... Something to ponder at a later date.
  1. Today I got to see my brother, sister-in-law and niece. They stopped by this morning on their way back to North Carolina.  It was great to see them!
  2. Great quote: "Logic will get you from A - Z.  Imagination will get you everywhere." Albert Einstein
  3. I made another journal today, better than the last. They just keep getting better.
  4. Today. I. Ran. For. 8. Minutes. Did it twice, too and didn't pay attention to the time. Now that's what I'm talkin' about! Progress.
  5. I bought fabric remnants from Jo-Ann Fabrics and they were on sale for 50% additional off! You can't beat that with a stick!

Somethin' Evil is Lurkin' in the Dark...

  1. I went to a party tonight and met my neighbors parents.  They're from Trinidad.   The mom is a riot! Such a great spirit.  During the night she said a saying in her thick Caribbean accent.  The phrase is, "Buy me for one but don't take me for one." Such a great saying.
  2. I participated in a great in-depth conversation at the party that took us until the wee hours of 3AM.  Time really flies when you're enjoying yourself.
  3. Usually I never do too much for Halloween. I was invited to a party and was planning to go as a zombie.  I wasn't sure how I'd make the look happen but I took a $1.97 make up kit from Walmart and some Mod Podge glue and made it work!
  4. The bowling tournament began today and I bowled a 184.  Only did it once today.. but I love that the one time happened!
  5. Today I got to know several people a lot better.

Oh the Horror (and the Zombies)!

  1. I think I've finally figured out how to make these sketchbooks using re-purposed cereal boxes.  I even added a flap with a clasp tonight! By the time I make one more I should have it totally figured out. Woo HOo!
  2. I looked outside of the kitchen window and spotted a hummingbird hovering around one of the flowers in the front yard.  Pretty cool! This is the second one I've seen in the yard in the last month.  I guess they like what's in the yard. :0)
  3. Today I found another show that I am excited for, The Walking Dead.  This show is a good mix of creepy, sci-fi and drama.  I like how each episode leaves you wanting more.  Reminds me of how the show LOST made me feel. I'm also excited to start watching American Horror Story - Jessica Lange plays "creepy" really well. Oh, and they sure say the word, "shit" a lot!
  4. Scored a great deal on an item at Super Target - I love shopping the clearance racks. I also love Super Target in general.
  5. Peace and quiet.  That's what I will have for the next few days and I will love every minute of it.

Empire State of Mind

They say the city never sleeps but I sure as hell did!  Maybe someone slipped me an Ambien! LOL

  1. While in Chelsea, I was by the Apple Store and saw the memorial for Steve Jobs (Apple Co-Founder).  I loved that it was done so organically with Post-it Notes and apples with a bite taken out of them.
  2. Had lunch at a great Thai restaurant in Chinatown called Pongsri Thai Restaurant  on 106 Bayard Street. Check it out! Great prices, too!
  3. We walked over to the World Trade Center Area.  The new buildings look amazing.  There was a museum/shop there that had some moving displays.
  4. I had my first Century 21 experience.  It's a store that has name brand clothing at a discount.  I lucked out and found a nice wool driving hat for only $10!!  Good buy!
  5. Walking through a park in Chinatown, we saw how awesome the Asian community is there.  They were all older (50s and up) and sitting at tables playing card games, checkers and other games. They also sat on benches playing music and watching their grandchildren.  It was an awesome sight to see.

"Green" Day

  1. To wake up with a plan is what it’s all about.  Today I said I’d wake up, run some errands and buy what I needed for jewelry making.  I finished 8 beaded bracelets.  I love productivity!
  2. The word LINDO. :0)
  3. While out shopping, I came up with a new way to brand my business. I’ll be using craft and recycled paper. Picked up some print at home stickers too.
  4. Homemade guacamole makes my heart sing!
  5. I love to hear that my friends are happy with the way things are going for them! Makes me say, “Awwwwww” <wipes tear from eye>
